FILM SCREENING:
THIS WORLD IS UNREAL LIKE A SNAKE IN A ROPE
(Sublime Frequencies, 2011, directed by Robert Millis)
Folk cinema from the eternal never-ending collage that is INDIA. A journey through the ancient Southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu featuring Hindu trance ceremonies, street music, festivals, nagaswaram improvisations, impossibly loud cities, ancient temples, processions, devotions, decay, fireworks, abstractions and more. A diary, one perspective among many, raw, captured live and in the moment, with an emphasis on India’s complex and mesmerizing sounds. Director in attendance so you can throw things at him.

LAGOSS

All three experienced musicians in their own right through various projects with a international following including Gonzo, GAF, Papillon, Tupperwear, Salétile, Afgan and many other collaborations including São Paulo Underground or Rob Mazurek.STARVING WEIRDOShttps://discrepant.bandcamp.com/album/atheistsaregodsMore than a decade after the release of ́Land Lines’, the mythical Humboldt County, California based duo of Brian Pyle and Merrick McKinlay reappears seemingly out of nowhere with ‘Atheistsaregods’. With past releases on such cult-like labels as Root Strata, Weird Forest, Blackest Rainbow or Digitalis, Starving Weirdos were an indelible part of a sprawling and loose network of artists in Northern America whose DIY work ethic and extreme activity revolved around shoestring-budget constant touring, numerous limited editions on CDR, tape and vinyl and a relentless drive to push the boundaries of genre.

This is their first tour in 12 years and their first time ever playing Seattle.

Some rare Indian 78rpm shellac discs DJ’d between and before as well…
